Katya karoon lyrics meaning

I was asked by my Non punjabi friends about meaning of Katya karoon , the famous song from Rockstar . Thought to translate full.

Kateya Karoon is an old punjabi folk song- The women in old days used to make cotton on the spinning feel . Still this is common time pass in villages but not in cities.  Group of ladies join and sing , talk things of here and there.

Often they sing for for their husbands or lovers..

i just wanted to share the original person behind those lovely lines

The bani ( text ) written by Sheik farid has been incorporated into Guru Granth Sahib ( the holy book of Sikhs)

  2. baiji, do gallan karan chaunda:

    "yara bulle lutya karoon": is 'bulle' here referring to Bulle Shah? or lips/bul? If former is the case then it might be that this song was originally written by Bulle Shah.And if latter is the case then this line carries a very erotic charge, if i am not wrong. Also, "keeli main napdi phiran" is a reference to 'dand-keeli', a game played in villages even today.

    bulle lutya karo ...literally means maze kareya karu in punjabi or i would do lots of fun


    kili napna , is just literally used often to say finish off fast or something in punjabi

  6. The original song happens to be in sufiana style, where the relation between the god and the follower, (here the pir & follower) the Bulle shah is sung like a beloved of the great saint, like meera said I am beloved of krishna, and I am not worried of the world.

    The singers have made an Anarth of the old Songs Arthm
